BIOGRAPHY

3D FRIENDS is the solo project of 22 year old singer/songwriter Daniel Chavez Wright. Wright's music has been classified as electronic, ambient, dance, shoegaze, post-punk, indie rock, but most notably falling into the genre of Chillwave. Wright's live performance includes the accompaniment of a full supporting band, and consists of a lot of synths, high energy, and inevitable dance moves!

The name 3D FRIENDS was first introduced in November of 2009. Wright released a handful of demos on his MySpace page beginning in November of 2009, all of which were written and recorded entirely by himself. Wright persisted with recording, releasing songs, and performing numerous solo gigs over the next few months. But it was in September of 2010 that Wright wrote the song that would change the course of his life. "I just knew from the very first moment I started writing this song that there was something really special about it." Wright says about his song "Lina Magic". Wright describes the song as a lucid trip down memory lane for him. "I literally woke up from a dream I had about a girl I used to know, and this melody, these lyrics, this story line just started flowing from my hands and my mouth, and thus 'Lina Magic' was born." Wright adds.  Just 2 months after the release of his song "Lina Magic", Wright receives a phone call from a representative at OurStage music, letting him know that his song "Lina Magic" has been selected by MTV to be the theme song of the new television series 'SKINS'. "I was in a state of shock, I didn't think super awesome things like that actually happened to normal people, and I don't think I actually believed everything until I was sitting in MTV's offices in Time's Square discussing the concept of a music video" says Wright.

The next few months were filled with consecutive trips to New York, including press interviews, attendance to the 'SKINS' premiere party, and the shooting of the "Lina Magic" Official music video. Wright concludes with the statement, "I just want to keep pushing myself at all cost. I haven't 'made it' like a lot of people like to say. Perhaps I'm just living proof of someone who never gave up."
