The production masterminds known as The MIDI Mafia have earned GRAMMY accolades thanks to Frank Ocean’s win for “Best Urban Contemporary Album” at the show’s 55th broadcast. The duo produced Ocean’s stand out track, “Bad Religion” from his highly praised release, Channel Orange.
On behalf of Extreme Music and MTV Networks, Hype Music congratulates Bruce Waynne and Dirty Swift in assisting Frank Ocean to achieve one of music’s highest honors.
Reachback, one of HYPE’s premier bands from overseas, just signed a record deal with US label Spectra Records, a branch of Spectra Music Group. The label will be distributing their debut album to American stores, as well as providing tour support for the band to travel the country and allowing them to break into bigger American markets.

2013 is proving to be a lunge forward for the ironically named Reachback. We can’t wait to see what’s to come.
While the content of Jodie Foster’s acceptance speech for the Cecil B. Demille Award at the Golden Globes is what’s really topping headlines, HYPE MUSIC’s The Filthy Pillows are also garnering a bit of attention for lending a sultry sound to the video recapping the icon’s epic career.

HYPE’s own Cameron was recently tapped by world class fighter, Manny Pacquiao, to write a theme that would be suitable as entrance music for the famous Filipino bruiser. Not only did the Pac-Man walk out to this before his last bout with Marquez earlier this month, but the theme entitled “Face Your Destiny” will be a featured track on Manny, the Pacquiao film that will be coming out next year.
Despite the Pacquiao loss, Cameron definitely KO’d this track. Snag a download here.
2012 was one hell of a year for of Verona. From non-stop college radio love, to gaining props from the likes of KROQ, The Examiner, Ryan Tedder, and many others, the futuristic electro-grunge trio’s debut album The White Apple has been scoring some huge acclaim since it was released. Lead singer/songwriter Mandi Perkins’ Cranberries-esque power vocals lead each track through an unforgettable journey. Tracks like the hauntingly beautiful single, ”Dark In My Imagination”, as well as the energized opener “Castles” helped solidify the record’s position as Indie Album of the Year for the writer’s at Lemonade Magazine. Gaining an award in the company of artists like Ellie Goulding and Maroon 5 is not a bad way to close out the year.
Despite the enormous amount of effort the band put in during 2012, that doesn’t mean they are slowing down going into 2013. They’ll be riding this momentum right onto satellite radio in January as well as recording a video for “Dark In My Imagination”. Keep an eye on the charts and your ears wide open- 2013 is going to be an even bigger year for of Verona.

HYPE Nite Hollywood boasted a fantastic lineup with sets from HYPE artists George Byrne, Jared James Nichols, of Verona, Cameron, and The Diamond Light. Held at Swing House Studios in Hollywood, the space was packed full of industry professionals smiling from ear to ear.
